2026 DBSUMI XXIX Logo Contest

This year marks a monumental milestone: the 20th anniversary of the sequencing of the Strongylocentrotus purpuratus (purple sea urchin) genome.

We are looking for an original, striking design that celebrates this anniversary and reflects the incredible acceleration of genomic resources for echinoderms and other marine invertebrates.

Let your creativity dive deep into the biology, genomics, and evolution of these amazing organisms!

Are you a creative scientist, a visually-minded researcher, or a design enthusiast?

We want your art for the Logo Design Competition for the upcoming 29th DBSUMI Meeting, and we need a signature look that captures the spirit of our community.

The designer of the winning logo will receive partial or full coverage of their DBSUMI meeting registration fee, along with major bragging rights and seeing their artwork worn by attendees from all over the world!

Design & Screen Printing Requirements:

To ensure your design looks its best when printed on the official conference t-shirts, please adhere to the following technical guidelines:
  • Placement: The winning design will be featured as a full-sized graphic on the back of the shirt, and as a smaller, simplified version on the front pocket area. Your design should be scalable or come with a matching "mini" variant that looks crisp at a small scale.
  • Resolution & Size: Final submissions must be high-resolution—at least 300 DPI at the physical print size (approx. 11" x 11" for the back, and 3.5" x 3.5" for the front pocket).
  • File Format: For initial submission, please submit a PDF version of your designs. High-resolution raster files (PSD or transparent PNG) will also be accepted. Max file size 25MB. Please note for the winning logo, a scalable vector format will be requested (AI, .EPS, or .SVG), but is not needed for this submission stage.
  • Screen Printing Standards: For successful, crisp screen printing, please use a limited color palette (ideally 1 to 3 solid colors). Avoid gradients, half-tones, drop shadows, or transparency fades, as solid colors and clean lines transfer best to fabric. We will have white and navy blue options for the base T-shirt color.
Channel your inner evolutionary artist and help us celebrate 20 years of marine invertebrate genomics. Good luck! We can’t wait to see your designs! 🌊 🔬
