DBSUMI XXIX Conference Collection
Discover Developmental Biology (formerly Development Genes and Evolution) is pleased to collaborate with the 2026 DBSUMI meeting to launch a Conference Collection. For this collection, all submissions will receive a full waiver of publication fees, regardless of the Article Processing Charge (APC) rate of the authors' institutions.
About the journal: This journal supports multidisciplinary research across all fields of biological development relevant to animals, plants, and microorganisms. Discover Developmental Biology remains indexed in Web of Science's Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) and Scopus and is expected to receive its first Impact Factor under the new name in 2027.
Scope of the journal: This journal intentionally aims to be inclusive in every aspect. In particular, we seek to highlight authors, model organisms, and research topics that are underrepresented in the field. Additionally, the journal aspires to provide training opportunities by encouraging junior scientists, including students, postdocs, and junior faculty members, to submit their first manuscripts for publication. The journal also emphasizes the needs of the research community over impact alone and is willing to accept null data if the experiments are conducted rigorously and the results are valuable to the community. However, the manuscript's data and organization must meet the scientific rigor and standards of a peer-reviewed journal from Springer Nature.
Manuscript type: The journal accepts research, review, methods, case studies, and other types of papers, including short papers directly or indirectly related to the work presented at the conference. Each submission requires review by two experts, as with usual submissions (Please see submission guidelines). We will try to pre-select reviewers to expedite the process. Additionally, the submission for the conference collection is usually due within 9 months of the conference. If more time is needed, please contact the conference organizers.
Number of submissions: There is no limit on the number of manuscripts a single lab can submit for this conference collection. However, one of the co-authors must be registered (ideally presenting) at the conference to receive a full waiver of the publication fee.
We hope this opportunity encourages lively discussions and community participation at the conference!
During registration, you will be asked if you're interested to serve as a Reviewer (PostDocs and PIs) or Guest Editor (PIs only). For more info please contact the organizers and CC Dr. Mamiko Yajima (mamiko_yajima [at] brown.edu).
